Job Title:

Systems Engineer

Job Summary:

ZyXEL Communications’ Broadband Solutions Engineering team is looking for a Systems Engineer to support our IPDSLAM / MSAN projects. We have a team of System Engineers who have a full view of technical and project processes. Therefore, the ideal candidate will need to have interdisciplinary experiences to Access Network support in Tier 3 Escalation, Field Application Engineering, and Project Development.

Primary Functions:

Must be able to act as an escalation point for the following technical areas:

• Common IPDSLAM / MSAN Topologies
• LAN and WAN Networking
• IGMP and Multicast Protocol
• SIP or H.248 Protocol
• ADSL2+ and VDSL2 Technologies
• OSI Model and its application in broadband technologies

Along with technical support background, the ideal candidate will need to interface with various departments within ZyXEL to these capacities:

• Product Development – Planning firmware releases and managing dialogue with key Telco customers for product requirements
• Field Troubleshooting – Working with on-site engineers remotely or going on-site as field application representatives

 

 

Qualification Skills:

• Degree or IT certification (BS degree in Computer Science/Engineering, CCNA, MCSE, Network+ etc.) is a big plus
  
• 2-3 years of support experience
  
• Good verbal and email communication skills
  
• Dynamically adapt to technical situations is highly desired. Being able to comment on other products and the underlying technologies will be a plus
  
• The candidate needs to be a team player and is willing to backup other members without being asked
  
• Flexibility on daily work schedule is desired
  
• There will be some occasions when work related email communications at night is required
  
• Some travel is also required for general customer visits, onsite troubleshooting, and product training
  
• The candidate must be detail oriented and organized
  
• Ability to speak Chinese Mandarin is a major plus
